Administrative Core Abstract
The Administrative Core (ADM) of the Program Project in Structural Cell
Biology of DNA Repair Machines (SBDR) will be responsible for
coordinating administrative aspects of the Program and for facilitating
interaction among the Investigators, with the primary aim of
maintaining the coherence and focus of the Program. The goal of the
ADM is to ensure the successful conduct of the research proposed in
this application. Management of the SBDR Program will be provided by
an administrative structure that consists of the ADM Core Director and
co-Director together with an Executive Committee comprised of the
Project Leaders and the Directors of the two research Cores.
Specifically, the aims of the ADM Core are:
- Aim 1. To recruit a total
of four senior scientists, two of whom are authorities in the DNA
repair field and two in structural biology, to serve as an External
Scientific Advisory Committee, and to integrate the recommendations of
the Advisory Committee into scientific planning and management of the
Program.
- Aim 2. To monitor the progress of the projects. This will
be achieved in part by requesting and helping to prepare bi-annual
scientific reports from each project, followed by a telephone
conference of the Executive Committee two weeks later, and by
organizing a yearly Investigators Workshop to include Core staff and
the external advisory board members.
- Aim 3. To set up and maintain a
system for exchange of scientific information and requests for
materials among Program Investigators through the Expression and
Molecular Biology (EMB) Core and the Structural Cell Biology (SCB)
Core.
- Aim 4. To monitor finances of the Program Project and assure
compliance with NIH regulations.
- Aim 5. To coordinate preparation of
an annual Progress Report.
